Now that I’ve been home for a few weeks, the reflection of our trip to Romania has begun. Besides missing the fields of sunflowers, the baskets of bread, and the warmth and kindness of our hosts, there are a few things that I will take home with me from our trip.
I will remember how much fun the kids had at camp, and being able to help create their meals for the week. I will remember the beauty of the country, the old buildings and churches of Oradea, and how new it felt to be surrounded by a new and foreign culture.
I hope that the message of the armor will stay with the kids as they live their lives and grow into adults. Being a teenager is hard in general, but it must be even more difficult to be a teenager facing the challenges that poverty brings.
It has only been a few days since landing, and my grandpa is already planning the next adventure. I’m still struggling with jet lag! George and Alina have asked us to come back next year (with a team), so perhaps we’ll be writing another series on the mission to Romania!
Until next time,
