Today starts our two-week adventure traveling to Oradea, Romania. We’re headed from San Luis Obispo to Denver. After a long layover in Denver, we will fly 3,225 miles and 9 hours and 45 minutes to arrive in Munich, Germany. From Germany, we will enjoy a short flight to Budapest, Hungary before making our way across the border to Romania.
With this being my granddaughter Keihla’s first trip, we are taking some time to enjoy the sights in Budapest before making our way to Oradea with Alina and George Galea, the directors of the Caleb Foundation, centered in the Lăzăreni Village.
I will be preaching in the BookCafe Church on Sunday morning before leaving for our weeklong resort kids camp. Our theme is “More than Conquerors”, where the campers will enjoy lessons from Ephesians, and the importance of the Armor of God. We are honored to be working alongside the Caleb Foundation to love on the kids for a week, and enjoy the beautiful countryside with our friends.
The Caleb Foundation center was founded 18 years ago and serves over 350 small homes with humanitarian services. Their work brings education, training, and access to basic resources to children and families of the Lăzăreni village. With an active preschool on campus, an afternoon tutoring service for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, and vocational and nutritional training for adults, the Caleb Foundation has made a huge impact on the lives of the Lăzăreni community.
The influence of the Caleb Foundation has brought about a shift in the culture of the village. Access to clean water, education, and vocational training has allowed the village a new way of living. I look forward to seeing the kids' smiling faces, and of course, the train ride to camp!
